Your documents
EditFreePDF processes PDF files entirely within your browser. When you open a PDF, it is read into your device's memory and never transmitted to our servers or anyone else's. Editing, signing, merging, splitting, compression, conversion, OCR and password operations are all computed locally. Closing the tab removes the document from memory.
Data stored in your browser
Two features keep optional data in your browser's local storage, on your device only: the Auto-Fill profile (name, address, etc. that you choose to save) and the optional Ask AI API key. Neither is sent to us. You can clear both at any time through your browser settings.
Ask AI (optional feature)
If you choose to use the Ask AI feature, the text content of your document is sent directly from your browser to Anthropic's API using your own API key. This happens only when you explicitly click Ask, and no other feature transmits document content anywhere.
Third-party resources
The editor loads open-source libraries (pdf.js, pdf-lib, JSZip, qpdf, Tesseract) from public CDNs, and the site is served through Cloudflare. These providers see ordinary web requests for the code files (IP address, user agent) — never your documents.
Analytics and cookies
EditFreePDF does not use advertising trackers and does not set cookies for identification. Standard, aggregate server logs may exist at the hosting layer (Cloudflare) as with any website.
